PPHG’s Flagship Youth Program
Peer Trauma Responder Program™ (PTRP)
For Youth
Are you dealing with stress, anger, frustration, grief, bullying, cyberbullying, peer pressure, friendship problems, relationship challenges, family changes, conflict, school pressure, community violence, or situations that sometimes feel bigger than you know how to handle?
Maybe you react before you have time to think. Maybe you shut down, pull away, feel misunderstood, or have a hard time explaining what you are feeling. Maybe you are trying to support a friend while dealing with challenges of your own.
PTRP was created to give you practical tools to better understand what you are experiencing, manage your emotions, communicate more effectively, set healthy boundaries, make safer decisions, handle conflict and peer pressure, and support others without feeling like you have to carry everything on your own.
For Parents & Caregivers
Have you noticed your child becoming more irritable, easily frustrated, withdrawn, overwhelmed, reactive, or emotionally shut down?
Are they dealing with bullying, peer pressure, family separation or divorce, grief, friendship or relationship problems, school stress, community violence, major life changes, or other outside pressures that seem to be affecting their mood, behavior, confidence, relationships, or decision-making?
These are the kinds of real-life situations PTRP is designed to help youth navigate.
What PTRP Offers
Peer Trauma Responder Program™ (PTRP) is an 8-week trauma-informed youth leadership and peer-support program for ages 10–21.
PTRP helps young people recognize what may be affecting their thoughts, emotions, behavior, relationships, and decisions. Participants learn practical skills for emotional regulation, healthy coping, communication, conflict response, decision-making, healthy boundaries, peer support, leadership, and knowing when additional adult or professional help is needed.
The program addresses both the normal challenges that come with growing up and outside experiences that can create additional stress, including grief, trauma, bullying, cyberbullying, peer pressure, family changes, community violence, conflict, and major life challenges.
Through PTRP, Youth Learn How To:
-
Recognize what is affecting them before emotions take over
-
Manage stress, anger, frustration, grief, pressure, and difficult emotions
-
Respond to bullying, cyberbullying, peer pressure, and conflict more safely
-
Communicate clearly and express emotions in healthier ways
-
Establish healthy boundaries and recognize unhealthy relationship patterns
-
Make safer and more thoughtful decisions
-
Support a friend without trying to become their counselor or crisis worker
-
Recognize when a situation requires adult or professional help
-
Build confidence, resilience, leadership, and purpose
Building Youth Who Are Prepared for Life
Our goal is not simply to help young people get through difficult situations. We want youth to develop the skills to regain control of their responses, understand what they are feeling, make healthier decisions, strengthen their confidence, and handle both the normal stresses of life and unexpected challenges.
PTRP helps young people move from reacting to understanding, from carrying everything alone to knowing when and how to seek support, and from simply surviving difficult experiences to building resilience, leadership, and a stronger sense of direction.
We want youth to leave PTRP better prepared to manage life, contribute positively to their families and communities, support others responsibly, and move forward with a renewed sense of purpose.
